Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Northern California District

First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All

Serving The Western Region

The Northern California District of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. serves the broader Bay Area community from Fresno to Sacramento, ensuring the college and graduate chapter alike thrive through leadership and service within their localities. Here in the NorCal District, we hold to heart a few core values

Community Development

We are and will always be dedicated to serving our communities first. Alpha hosts both collegiate and graduate programs focused on giving around the Fraternity’s core programs, in addition to other programs that help lay the foundation for community service in low-income areas.

The Northern California District is made up of some truly beloved and historic chapters of the House of Alpha. The representations of Alpha men across the region range from Stanford Graduates to leaders in the tech industry. It is our goal to transform Fraternity culture between young and senior brothers to build a continuous pipeline of success, familiarity, and mentorship.

Professional Development

Alpha has always been a leader when it comes to dynamic change across multiple verticals. Whether it is professional development via our Fraternity’s Leadership Academy or simply providing Brothers with networking information to support their next career move, the NorCal District continues Alphas’s legacy of professional excellence.

The first Black Greek-letter organization, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Alpha) was founded on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on December 4, 1906. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity currently has more than 850 chapters around the world and a membership in excess of 185,000.

Alpha Phi Alpha was originally founded by seven undergraduate students at Cornell who were later referred to as “The Seven Jewels” by the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

The bond and brotherhood of Alpha Phi Alpha includes scholar and political activist W.E.B. Dubois, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) attorney Thurgood Marshall, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the most prominent 20th Century civil rights activist of our time.

The legacy of Dr. King motivated his fraternity brothers to create the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Foundation, Inc. The goal of this foundation is to build a memorial in honor of Dr. King’s life, legacy and international achievements on the Mall in Washington, D.C.
